Please note: you must have taken Biology and Chemistry at A-Level or as components of your IB Diploma taken at Higher level in order to be considered for Medipathways programmes.

• Successful completion of the Medipathways Foundation guarantees a place onto the Medipathways BSc.

• Equivalent qualifications, such as the Irish Leaving Certificate and the Scottish Advanced Highers are also accepted. Prospective applicants with other qualifications should contact us for an individual assessment.

• We welcome applications from students who have successfully completed a BTEC programme of study, however students who have a BTEC Diploma as their highest attained qualification will normally be offered the Medipathways Foundation programme.

• If English is not your native language, then you are normally expected to have passed a recognised test in English to the level of IELTS 6.5 (6.0 for our Foundation) or equivalent (with no less than 6.0 in the writing and listening sections).

• All applications received will be considered in accordance with our Admissions & Recruitment Policy.

Mature applicants (over 21 years) may apply irrespective of age. In some cases work, study or life experience in the absence of formal science qualification may be considered adequate preparation for the 2-year BSc, if the applicant can demonstrate aptitude for learning chemistry and at least one other science, and the potential to succeed in an accelerated study programme.

Medipathways is happy to discuss the equivalence of your work experience, and might offer you a place conditional on your completion of a short intensive course in chemistry or another science. For the 1-year CertHE, qualifications equivalent at least to AAA at A level are required, as subsequent applications to medical school are unlikely to succeed without this attainment.

Please note: These grades quoted above and below give an indication of a typical offer; at the Admissions Tutor’s discretion, alternative qualifications or gradings may be considered. Medipathways prides itself on a flexible entry process, considering each individual on personal merit as well as their grades.

  • If your Chemistry qualification was gained over two years ago, or;
  • Was obtained from an awarding organisation based outside the UK and Ireland, or;
  • Does not meet the College’s standard requirement for entry. Medipathways may offer you an opportunity to sit a Chemistry entrance test in order to prove your Chemistry understanding. Applicants will be informed of the test result within a week of taking the test.

Applicants who achieve the test pass mark will be offered a place on the relevant course.

Should applicants wish to refresh their Chemistry skills in advance of sitting the entrance test with a preparatory short course, please contact admissions@medipathways.com
